Memorial Day Weekend

On Saturday, we went with Bill's family to visit graves in the Salt Lake area.

I had to put in this picture. I'm not exactly sure what was going on, but doesn't she just look like she's about to cause trouble?

2-Week Checkup

Abby had her 2-week checkup on Monday and all looks good. Here are the stats:
*She weighed 7 lbs 4 oz (the rule of thumb is that she should have been at least up to her birth weight, which was 6 lbs 13 oz)
*She gained 17 ounces in 11 days (the rule of thumb is that they gain 1 oz per day)
*She is 17th percentile for weight and 88th percentile for height (21.5 inches)

We are planning a week-long business trip to Atlanta. We'll be taking the girls with us -- and my cousin, Kayli, has agreed to come with us to watch them during the day and a half of meetings Bill needs me for. I don't know what I'd do without her, I was feeling a lot of angst about leaving a 5-week-old baby with an unseen babysitter in another state. So we are busy introducing a bottle to make all go smoothly. I pumped a bottle and went to book club tonight, and came back to this:

Bill propped the bottle up, left the room, and when I came home Abby was sucking away on an empty bottle. Luckily she burped pretty easily so she must not have been sucking on the empty bottle too long.

Sisters!

I have three sisters and I love them very much!
I'm so happy Sandy and Abby have each other.

Sandy is a great big sister, always watching out for Abby.

Kathleen gave them matching bracelets, aren't they adorable?

Several people have commented how much they look alike, so I thought it would be worth pulling out Sandy's baby pictures. Here is Abby:

1 week old

Abby is 1 week old today! She had her first doctor appointment Thursday and she weighed 6 lbs 3 oz. That puts her in the 9th percentile for weight, 95th for length. I took her back on Friday just to check her weight and she weighed 6 lbs 7 oz, so her weight is coming back up quickly. (I'd also just fed her on Friday, wish I'd done that right before her Thursday appointment.)

Abby & Grandma Sherri

My mom has been here since Tuesday helping out and it has been wonderful to have her here! Sandy has loved - and needed - all the attention her grandma has given her. Sandy is a great big sister - she's gentle with her sister and she loves giving Abby kisses. This has been a major disruption in her routine, though, and she's been a bit of a pill, especially about going to bed at night. The first couple of nights were particularly rough -- every time Abby cried it woke Sandy up.

Sandy giving Abby kisses

I borrowed this idea from my friend, Jen: I went to makeaonesie.com and made Abby a onesie that says "Sandy's Baby Sister" and a matching one for Sandy that says "I'm the big sister."

We tried to set up a photo shoot this afternoon, but Abby wasn't feeling very cooperative. I was hoping to get a cute picture of Abby to use for birth announcements, but I guess we'll have to try another time.

More Pictures of Abby

A photographer came by today and took some darling pictures of Abby. I guess they offer this service to all the new moms. You can see them here, the password is: 0509abigailbuhler. The photos will only be up until May 24. We're still trying to decide whether or not to order a disk of photos -- I feel like if I'm going to spend the money I can pay a little more and get professional pictures of our whole family, but they did turn out so cute....

Here are some more photos that Bill took today.

Grandma & Grandpa Buhler brought Sandy for a visit again tonight, I have sure missed her while I've been in the hospital!

We're planning to go home tomorrow morning and my mom will be here tomorrow night to help out for a few days.

Abigail Aloha Buhler

We're so very excited to welcome Abby into our family! I woke up with contractions at 3 a.m. this morning. It was a very quick labor and delivery and both Abby and I are doing well!

No Baby Yet

Tomorrow I will be 41 weeks pregnant and Abby doesn't seem to be in a hurry to come. I am still 3 centimeters dilated and 80 percent effaced so I guess it could happen any time. If it doesn't happen by Thursday (May 13), I'll be induced.

In the meantime, here are some of the things that we have been doing.

Bill is at the State Republican Convention today as a delegate. Last night we went to several meet the candidate events, including one for Governor Herbert at the zoo.

Sandy loved the carousel:

...and chasing the peacocks:

I bought her a panda bear backpack/leash and she really likes wearing it. It gives her a little more freedom to roam without me having to worry about losing her.

Last Sunday we celebrated Lilly's birthday. Happy Birthday, Lilly!

It was also my official due date, so here is a picture of Sandy & I so you can see how little lap I have left.
