Does Sage like Sandy?

Sage has been really good with Sandy, but sometimes I wonder if she likes her or just tolerates her. I mean, Sandy is always getting into Sage's food and water dishes and using Sage as a jungle gym. But then I caught this on video. Watch Sage's tail.

Sandy and Sage

Yesterday I took Sage to the vet for a yearly checkup. Sage is 8 years old and 83 pounds, which translates to 80 years old in human years!

When the vet came in, Sage was sitting and Sandy was holding her leash. He really got a kick out of watching the two of them play. The veterinary technician thought she was adorable, too, and took Sandy in back to visit the other staff and dogs.

I didn't have my camera with me at the vet's office, so I decided to put Sage's leash on again today and see if I could get a picture of her with Sandy.

New Bike Helmet

Bill came home with a bike helmet for Sandy. We have a bike trailer and hope to take her out in it this summer. She didn't like wearing the helmet very much so Sage tried to make her feel better by licking her face.

Watch out, here she comes!

Sandy has started moving and nothing is safe! She's been scooting for a while, but she didn't go very fast. Last week she learned to crawl. All these months I've been trying to motivate her to crawl by pushing toys just out of reach. She'd just look at the toy and find something else to look at or play with rather than go toward it. Well, last week, I learned what she is motivated by. My daughter will crawl across the room to get a half of a jelly bean.

And she's not just crawling. This morning I walked into the bathroom to find this:

So now she has learned to pull herself up, too. She's been walking around things, but she hasn't been able to get up herself until today.

Her cousin Lexie can do these things, I guess she helped Sandy learn while she was here.

So now I'm quickly trying to adjust to a mobile baby. So far it has been pretty safe to leave her for a few minutes playing with toys and trust that she wouldn't go far. No longer. This afternoon I left Sandy playing with toys and ran downstairs to get a package ready to mail. It was almost ready, I really wasn't downstairs for more than a couple of minutes, when I heard a low growl. I called Sage's name and went running upstairs to see what was going on and found Sandy eating the dog food.

Catching Up

I've neglected my blog for the last month or so due to Christmas, some church projects I'll post more about later, and other interruptions. I've been trying to catch up and I'm getting close. However there are a few pictures I missed as I was catching up.

On January 6 we had a lot of snow and I snowblowed the driveway. The sun was out and Sandy loved watching Sage run through the snowblower spray.


There are always those moments when I do something as a mother that shocks even me. When we came in from snowblowing, I grabbed a candy stick. Sandy saw it and wanted it so I shared.

She loved it and sucked it down to almost nothing. I bit off the skinny end and handed it back to her. She had a blast!



Here is Sandy in a cute red dress my mom got for her. We took these pictures Sunday, January 11. For a while we were taking pictures every Sunday, but we haven't kept it up very well since Bill got called to be ward clerk and had to start staying late to do tithing.


Her best smile of the photo shoot was when Sage came up to her. Too bad she wasn't looking at the camera.

Sandy loves Sage (the dog)! She gets excited when she sees her and loves to be down on the ground near her. Here is a video of the two of them playing.

Our Other Baby

Tonight, I curled up on the couch next to Bill and we watched Breach*. Partway through the movie I looked down and found Sage curled up on Sandy's boppy pillow. Apparently it was comfortable because she stayed there while I paused the movie, turned on the lights, and took some pictures.

* Breach is based on a true story and is about a young FBI agent that helps convict one of the greatest spies in American history. It was an excellent movie and I highly recommend it. Rated PG-13.
